Unfortunately, many more children are affected than one would expect: every day around 19 children are born with a heart defect - one percent of all newborns - this corresponds to approximately 7500 children a year in Germany alone. Heart defects are the most common congenital malformation. For more than 10 years, the Stiftung KinderHerz has been working to further improve the life chances and quality of life of every child with heart disease. Together with 19 children's heart competence centers throughout Germany, the foundation develops innovative and sustainable research projects for the benefit of children with congenital and acquired heart disease.
