The DKMS (German Bone Marrow Donor Center) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer. It was founded in Germany in 1991 by Dr. Peter Harf after his wife Mechtild fell ill with leukemia and died. Since then, DKMS has pursued the goal of giving as many blood cancer patients worldwide as possible a second chance at life.

DKMS's main field of activity is the registration of stem cell donors in order to find suitable donors for blood cancer patients worldwide. With over 12.5 million registered donors worldwide, DKMS has already arranged more than 125,000 stem cell donations.

DKMS is active in several countries, including Germany, USA, UK, Poland, Chile, India and South Africa, and is continuously working to spread its mission worldwide.
