What are personal data?
Personal data are data that identify you as a person. This includes, for example, your name, e-mail address, telephone number, postal address, and also credit card data.
What are user data?
User data are data which VIPrize collects from you, processes and stores if you visit the websites and prize drawings operated by VIPrize. User data are, in particular, attributes for identification such as domain name and/or IP address of the computer you use to contact VIPrize.
What are IP addresses?
IP addresses are used to identify devices that are connected to the internet. Each computer connected to the internet can be associated with a specific IP address, i.e. a specific combination of numbers.
What is a cookie?
When you access our websites, VIPrize, or rather, VIPrize’s hosting provider collects data on such access via "server log files". The data collected in this process include the name of the website or file specifically retrieved, date and time of the retrieval, the data volume transmitted, browser and operating system you use, the website visited before, your IP address, your provider and a report on the successful retrieval of the respective website.
Moreover, VIPrize collects, processes and stores such personal data that you have deliberately provided (e.g. in forms or otherwise on the websites operated by VIPrize) in electronic or other communication.
In order to register for the prize drawings operated by VIPrize, you normally have to identify by entering your e-mail address. If you want to make use of additional services within the prize drawings, VIPrize may require further information such as banking details from you.
Here are some examples for data stored by VIPrize:
If you register for a prize drawing offered by VIPrize, VIPrize automatically stores the domain name and/or the IP address of the computer you have used to contact VIPrize.
VIPrize stores your e-mail address if you have provided it to VIPrize. Apart from that, in the individual case the data collected can be derived from the respective input masks.
a) VIPrize shall collect, use or disclose your personal data only if it is permitted by law or you have given your consent.
VIPrize will make use of the data collected via the server log files only for statistical evaluation for the purposes of managing the websites and prize drawings, ensuring security and further optimisation of websites and prize drawings. VIPrize reserves the right to subsequently verify these data if, due to precise indications, there are reasonable grounds for suspecting an unlawful use of websites and prize drawings.
Data entered for the purpose of registration shall be used by VIPrize for the usage of websites and prize drawings. VIPrize can also provide you with information per e-mail which may include changes in the scope of offers presented on the respective websites and prize drawings or technical circumstances.
If you contact VIPrize for example by means of a contact form or via e-mail, your details shall be stored for the sake of processing your request. The same applies in case you have further questions.
In addition, VIPrize collects, processes and stores your data to better understand your usage of the websites and prize drawings operated by VIPrize, and thus improve the services provided to you. Thus VIPrize can, for example, not only use the recorded data for direct processing of the user agreement, including all related usage possibilities (e.g. participation in prize drawings; use of services connected with the prize drawings; usage of customer support), but also to become aware of malfunctions or an improper use of the websites and prize drawings operated by VIPrize.
b) We would of course like to provide you with our informative newsletter if you are interested in VIPrize and the prize drawings and services we offer.
If you wish to receive the newsletter, VIPrize needs a valid e-mail address. In addition, VIPrize needs an information which allows to verify whether you are the holder of the e-mail address indicated, or rather, that the holder of the e-mail address agrees to receive the newsletter ("verification"). Hence, upon registration of the newsletter subscription your IP address and the date of registration will be stored. This serves, in particular, evidential purposes in case a third party misuses an e-mail address to register for the newsletter without the authorised person's knowledge. Further data are not collected. Such data are only used for dispatch of the newsletter; they are not disclosed to third parties.
Should you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, you can unsubscribe it any time. At the end of each newsletter you will find the link "Unsubscribe VIPrize newsletter". Please click here if you wish to unsubscribe.
Apart from that, you may of course revoke your consent to receiving the newsletter at any time in writing (for example by e-mail to email@example.com), free of charge except for the costs generated by transmission of the revocation (at base rates).
c) VIPrize is entitled to disclose user data required for payment processing to the service provider commissioned with collection of the charges, insofar as this is necessary for calculation and settlement of charges with you. Further, VIPrize is entitled to disclose user data to third parties, who have been assigned VIPrize receivables against you, insofar as this is necessary for the collection of such receivables. Upon request, VIPrize shall provide you with the name of the third party. Should VIPrize cooperate with third parties for the provision of services, VIPrize shall oblige these third parties to comply with valid data protection laws and to ensure sufficient data protection.
You may modify your personal data any time (e.g. updates or corrections), or completely delete your data. If you want VIPrize to modify or discontinue using your data, please contact VIPrize under firstname.lastname@example.org. In such case VIPrize will modify or delete your data as soon as possible. However, VIPrize advises you that due to technical or organisational circumstances it may well be that despite receipt of your wish for deletion measures are still carried out that had already been introduced but have not yet been completely executed. Furthermore, if we are under a legal obligation, we can completely delete your data only at a later date, if necessary.
VIPrize provides the users of its internet offer with the following social media plug-ins:
- Facebook "Like" button of the social network Facebook, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA;
- Google "+1" button of the social network Google+, operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA;
- Twitter "Tweet" of the communication platform Twitter, operated by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
These plug-ins are developed by the respective operators, provided and integrated in our websites unchanged. By using such a button, the user can recommend any website visited. This way you can recommend VIPrize's offers to friends in Facebook, others users of Google Plus, and Twitter followers. If, for example, the Like button is clicked, a message on your Facebook page will appear indicating that you recommend our services. If you use the Google Plus "+1" button, the recommendation will appear in your Google Plus profile or in the Google search engine. In addition, the recommendation along with your profile name and photograph can be displayed on websites and advertisements of third parties in the internet. By using the Twitter button it is possible to share a contribution or a page of the VIPrize offer on Twitter. Moreover, these buttons enable an automated communication between websites and the respective platform.
VIPrize uses a two-step procedure to prevent the unintended transmission of data to the respective platform ("two-click solution"): To start with, a plug-in must first be activated with one klick so as to unfold its actual function. Subsequently, with a second click a recommendation can be given.
If you activate the plug-in of a platform, your browser builds up a direct connection to the servers in the United States and then communicates with the respective service. The content of the plug-in is up-loaded from the servers directly into your browser and integrated in your website.
Thus, we have no control over the volume of data the platform operators collect through these buttons and will inform you according to our knowledge. We would assume that data such as visits to the website, clicking the button and your IP address are registered.
Accordingly, through integration of the social plug-in Facebook will receive the information that you have accessed the respective website of VIPrize's offer. And if you are meanwhile logged in to Facebook, Facebook can associate the visit with your Facebook account. If you interact with social plug-ins, for example by clicking the Like button, this information is immediately transferred from your browser to Facebook and stored there. If you are not a member of the Facebook community it is still possible that Facebook stores your IP address, although in Germany your IP address will be stored only in an anonymised form according to Facebook. If you are a member of the Facebook community but do not wish Facebook to collect data on you via the VIPrize internet presence and link them to your Facebook membership data, you must log out from Facebook before visiting the VIPrize website.
According to Google, no personal data are collected, unless you click the "+1" button. Apparently only personal data of logged in members are collected and processed, among others the IP address.
As regards Twitter buttons, as far as we know it is merely the IP address and the URL of the respective VIPrize websites that are transmitted when the button is clicked, and such data is not used for purposes other than to display the button.
If you maintain a user profile on a platform it is, in general, possible for the platform operator to relate information to your user account upon activation of the respective plug-ins. If you disagree with such process, you should log out from your user profile before activating a plug-in.
For further information concerning the scope and purpose for which data is stored, processed and used by platform operators, as well as for information on your respective rights and setting options to have your privacy respected, please refer to:
Please be advised that you can block social media plug-ins for your browser by using add-ons such as the Facebook blocker.
Upon request VIPrize shall provide you free of charge with information on your stored personal data. Such information is generally provided electronically, usually by e-mail.
