Save the Children was founded shortly after the First World War in 1919 by the teacher Eglantyne Jebb. Today you are active in 120 countries to improve the lives of children. Save the Children Germany is one of 28 country organizations under the umbrella of Save the Children International.

The protection of children from abuse and exploitation is a central task for you. Even within your own organization, you do everything you can to protect children from such dangers. You do this with the help of Child Safeguarding. Save the Children fight for the rights of all children to health and survival, school and education as well as protection from violence and exploitation and protect them from the dangers of emergencies and disasters. Children are at the centre of everything the relief organisation does. They have a say in your projects and are involved in decision-making processes.

Save the Children help all children, regardless of gender, origin or religion. You are not obliged to anyone - except for the welfare of the children.
The founder, Eglantyne Jebb, wrote a declaration on children's rights in 1923. This is now part of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and applies in almost every country in the world.
They work out their solutions with the local people, involve village elders and local councils as well as authorities and government in their work and thus strengthen sustainable development.
