An evening in Berlin full of spine-tingling moments

For Herbert and his companion, this trip made a long-cherished dream come true. Mumford & Sons’ only German gig took them to Berlin’s legendary Waldbühne and gave them memories that go far beyond those of an ordinary concert.

The adventure began early on Thursday morning with the flight from Bristol to Berlin. Their anticipation grew with every kilometre, as a very special evening lay ahead of them. Upon arriving at the Waldbühne, the pair were warmly welcomed by the War Child team. They entered the grounds via the guest list and press entrance and immediately sensed that an extraordinary experience awaited them.

The most emotional moment came shortly before the concert began: Herbert and his companion met Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane in person as they made their way to the stage. In a relaxed atmosphere, they chatted about football, the unforgettable Mumford & Sons concert at the Waldbühne in 2015 and their journey from Bristol. The band also gave the pair some personal tips for the rest of their trip around England and recommended some of the best pubs in Bristol. When the first songs finally rang out across the sold-out Waldbühne, the evening was perfect. The unique atmosphere and the rousing performance made the concert an unforgettable experience. The day after, we headed back to Bristol – with lots of special memories to take home and, as Herbert himself wrote, still in the throes of Mumford fever.
